- New York DEC will not open the Salmon River’s lower fly section on Sept. 15. The quarter-mile stretch from the Route 52 bridge in Altmar up to the hatchery boundary stays closed until enough Chinook eggs are taken; water below Route 52 and the upper fly area remain open.
- On The Water’s Sept. 10 upstate New York report says staging Lake Ontario Chinook are still chewing, while a cancelled Labor Day whitewater release kept the Salmon River low and spread early kings through the system.
