Two Birds Fishing books a Type D Clear Lake catfish weekend Oct. 3–4
Clear Lake’s first October weekend is not only a bass story. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife fishing-contests board lists an approved two-day Type D catfish permit for Two Birds Fishing on Clear Lake (Lake County) Oct. 3–4, 2026.
Type D is the Section 230 class for contests that are not targeting black bass. Those events can run longer than three days and on more than one water; this one is a two-day catfish card. It sits on the same dates as Anglers Press Outdoors’ approved Type A black bass weekend on Clear Lake — different species, same ramps.
Catfish Bash already has a one-day Type D on Clear Lake Sept. 12. Recreational cat anglers that October weekend should expect extra tournament traffic and confirm current Clear Lake catfish rules before keeping fish.
