Oregon recreational non-mark-selective coho quota cut to 25,700

Managers trimmed Oregon’s September recreational coho opportunity south of Cape Falcon. A Sept. 3 ODFW / NMFS in-season notice reduced the Cape Falcon–Humbug Mountain ocean recreational non-mark-selective coho quota by 1,800 fish — from 27,500 to 25,700 — effective with the Sept. 4 management period.

The rollback is impact-neutral accounting for an overage in the prior Cape Falcon–Oregon/California border mark-selective (fin-clipped) coho season that ended Aug. 18. The September fishery itself (no fin-clip requirement) had opened Sept. 1; the cut lowers the ceiling without changing the commercial troll coho landing-limit action that hit the same stretch on Sept. 8.

Anglers fishing that stretch should confirm the current bag and mark rules before they leave the dock. This is separate from the Columbia River subarea’s five-day marked-coho window that closed at 11:59 p.m. Sept. 8.
