Kern County Bassmasters lands a Type A day at Lopez Lake Sept. 19

Lopez Lake gets a one-day Type A black bass card in mid-September. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife fishing-contests board lists an approved Type A permit for Kern County Bassmasters on Lopez Lake on Sept. 19, 2026.

Type A permits cover black bass contests with more than 60 anglers; CDFW allows only one Type A permit per water per day. That puts Lopez on the same Saturday as several NorCal club cards elsewhere in the state, including Gilroy Bassmasters’ Type B weekend on Clear Lake.

Anglers fishing Lopez recreationally that Saturday should expect tournament boat traffic around launch and weigh-in. Confirm current black bass bag and size rules for Lopez before keeping fish, and contact the sponsor for registration.
