CDFW trout trucks shift to Kern River and Eastern Sierra next week
After this week’s Eastern Sierra and Sierra plants, CDFW’s dynamic fish-planting schedule points the next catchable trout loads toward the Kern and Mono County water. Waters listed for the week of Sept. 13–19, 2026, include Kern River Section 5 (Kern/Tulare), Kern River Section 6 (Tulare), Convict Creek (Mono), and Rock Creek Sections 1 and 2 (Mono).
CDFW updates the planting board in real time and warns that road, water, weather, and hatchery conditions can move or cancel drops. Exact day-of-week times are not published so plants are not immediately hammered the hour trucks arrive.
Anglers chasing planted trout should refresh the official Fish Planting Schedule before driving and carry a valid California sport fishing license. Later September rows already show Owens River stretches, Bishop Creek, Lone Pine Creek, Fuller Lake, and Halsey Forebay on the Sept. 20–26 list.
