Sacramento Fishing in the City keeps stocking cats — Hagan clinic Sept. 12

Sacramento-area kids and first-timers still have a CDFW catfish window this month. The Department’s Fishing in the City (Sacramento Metro) page says channel catfish will be stocked regularly through September at Granite Regional Park, Elk Grove Regional Park, Hagan Community Park, Howe Community Park, Mather Regional Park, Southside Regional Park, and Gibson Ranch Regional Park.

On Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, CDFW hosts a youth Beginner “Learn to Fish” clinic at Hagan Community Park (ages 5–15, adult required, pre-registration). Start slots run 8:00–10:00 a.m.; the pond stays closed to the general public until 12:30 p.m. so clinic groups can finish. Participants must use Fishing in the City rods and tackle — no personal gear at the clinic.
