Bass Angler Inc. locks a Type C catch-and-release weekend at Shasta Sept. 12–13

Shasta Lake’s mid-September bass weekend is a catch-and-release card, not a livewell derby. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife fishing-contests board lists an approved two-day Type C black bass permit for Bass Angler Inc. on Shasta Lake Sept. 12–13, 2026.

Type C is the Section 230 class for black bass contests that skip a centralized weigh-in: anglers record weight or length and release the fish immediately. Those events can run longer than three days and on more than one water at once, and they do not cap field size the way Type A and Type B do.

That is a different permit from Bass Angler Inc.’s three-day Type A Don Pedro cards and from American Bass’s Type A Shasta weekend Sept. 25–27. Recreational boats should still expect extra traffic around popular launches; confirm current Shasta black bass rules before keeping fish.
