Seward Lagoon youth-only coho extended through Oct. 5

Kids fishing Seward Lagoon get more silver time. ADF&G extended the youth-only coho fishery in the Seward Lagoon and its outfall stream through 11:59 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2026. Anglers 16 and older stay closed there.

The lagoon is a terminal hatchery stocking site with little natural reproduction, so managers treat the fish as harvest opportunity. Assistant Area Management Biologist Donald Arthur said coho were just starting to show in good numbers and the extra weeks give families more late-season shots.

Bag: two coho per youth per day; bait or lures OK; one hook (single or treble); no snagging in fresh water. Adults can help, but the fish counts on the youth who hooked it.
